Reining renews its fleet

Reining Transport BV in Kolham (NL) is one of the largest Logistical Service Providers in The Netherlands. With a fleet of about 300 Road Trains, Reining is the market leader of the Benelux when it comes to volume transports. At this moment, 100 of these Road Trains are being replaced by new ones, based on the MAN TGX 6×2 trucks.

The company Reining Transport is 90 years old, but since last year it is operating independently.
Reining was part of the Royal Wagenborg Group until May 2014, when it went out of the Group by means of a Management Buyout. Managing Director Mr. G. F. Hes about the comprehensive renewal of the fleet: “The order of hundred new combinations is a renewal and sustainability of the fleet. We chose for the further expansion of our specialty: volume transport by Road Trains. The volume transport is our specialty already for many years and we have a number of specific and loyal customers in the market.”

Relations
“The MAN dealer is responsible for the full maintenance of our new Road Trains. Not only for the trucks, but also for the trailers via MAN Trailerpartners” says Mr. Hes. The whole fleet of Reining is fully maintained by partners within repair and maintenance contracts. “We are aiming for sustainable relationships and that works both ways. We are working for very loyal customers, some of them for many years already. The same counts for our suppliers. In the past we had excellent experiences with a number of MAN trucks and with MAN-dealer Sommerauer Trucks in Westerbroek. In the end, that led to this substantial order.

Galvanized
The order for the hundreds of Road Trains consisted of two parts, for which MAN-dealer Sommerauer Trucks acted as the main contractor. Mr. Mak, Fleet Manager of Reining “We have listed our wishes and the dealer then came up with this solution.” The trucks are based on
MAN TGX 24.400 LL-U 6×2 volume chassis, with center axle trailers of Web Trailer. The bodies were built by Compaan Carrosserie in Assen. All the superstructures are equipped with additional support bars and the TÜV certificate for load securing. The internal height is three meters and the load length of the truck is 722 cm. The trailers are 93 cm longer. One of our wishes was that the trucks have to be representative after a number of years as well. Road Trains like these should last longer than regular truck-trailer combinations and that has implications for the durability. Therefore we have chosen fully galvanized body and trailer chassis.

International
Reining Transport is located in Groningen and Budapest. ”Only at our headquarters here in Groningen we are employing six different nationalities already”. Further support centers are located in the countries where it operates. There are offices in Italy, Germany, France and the United Kingdom. The drivers of Reining therefore are a truly international group. Mr. Hes: “Our foreign drivers mostly do block shipments while Dutch drivers do groupage consignments. It is remarkable that MAN trucks are popular among all the nationalities. The spacious XLX cabs and comfortable handling of the MAN trucks is highly valued, and that was an extra motivation for choosing this brand. ”
